Rick Astley announces huge free gig for NHS, primary care and emergency service workers
As a thank you for battling the coronavirus
Eighties singing sensation Rick Astley will perform a completely free concert for NHS frontline staff, Primary Care workers and all blue light staff this autumn.
Taking place at the 21,000 capacity Manchester Arena on Wednesday 28th October 2020, the huge concert is Rick Astley’s way of saying thank you to the heroes fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
Workers eligible for tickets will be all frontline NHS staff, Primary Care workers plus the emergency services including Ambulance, Fire Brigade and Police across the United Kingdom.
“Our NHS and emergency services are amazing,” enthuses Rick Astley. “This concert is a thank you to all those fantastic frontline staff. I promise my band and I will give it everything to give you a great night out.”
Tickets are limited to two per person (eligible NHS, Primary Care & emergency service staff members and one guest) and they are available from Ticketmaster RIGHT HERE at 7pm this Thursday (2nd April).
Here is some further information from promoters SJM:
“Ticket applications must only be made by the eligible frontline staff (NHS staff, Primary Care staff and Emergency Services) who must bring their valid staff I.D card (original format, no photocopies) to the show, as ticket checks will be in operation. All tickets will carry the name of the person who made the booking, and this must match the name that is on the original I.D card or admission will be refused. The guest of the eligible staff member will need to present and enter the venue at the same time.”
Last week, former Beautiful South stars Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott announced a free gig for NHS staff at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Tuesday 13th October.
Paul Heaton said at the time: “The coronavirus pandemic should remind everyone, and let no-one forget, that our National Health Service is the most brilliant and significant institution in our lives.
“The men and women who serve us and care for us, give us hope and sacrifice their own wellbeing, can never be thanked enough. We are just musicians, so there is little we can do but sing for you.
“By way of appreciation, we announce the following gig for all frontline NHS staff. From the porters, the cleaners and the drivers, to the doctors and the nurses; thank you.”
Liam Gallagher has also vowed to reunite Oasis – with or without his feuding sibling Noel – for an epic concert benefitting the NHS when the coronavirus pandemic is “put to bed.”
